Wonderful Mum

I came across this article somewhere and found it so true..
Very well written. Unfortunately, I do not know the name of the author. Here it goes..

Before I was a Mum,
I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about car seats.
Before I was a Mum,
I had never been puked on.
Pooped on.
Chewed on.
Peed on.

I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts.
I slept all night.
Before I was a Mum,
I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests, or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mum,
I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put her down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mum...

Before I was a Mum -
I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body.
I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small could make! me feel so important and happy.

Before I was a Mum -
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache,
The wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mum..
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much, before I was a Mum.

Identified with every single word that went in there, am sure all moms do..
to me the best line was this 'I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby. '

Yes, very true and I also love the bits about looking long at a sleeping baby and holding just because you don't want to put her down.

Very Nice post Lavanya.....thanks for sharing..
Its like every mom speaking abt herself...you, me and every mom in this world...we feel our importance only after becoming a mum...
very neatly presented...

Before being a mum! Even before I read this, I've been glad I'm not one! I'm sure I cannot handle all that pressure!
Thank god for making me a dad. BTW, I've already been 'blessed' by my wife to be born a woman in my next birth!
Happy?

@kn : Welcome here. Glad you liked it.

@L_R : First, Thank you for the compliment :) that women handle all the pressure. And I don't think there's a single wife who hasn't thought at some point or the other that the husband should be born as a woman in his next birth :). However, its just so sad that even if that does happen (i mean if the hubby is re-born as a woman), the wife will not know it anyways. mmm..sigh...

Unfortunately or fortunately there is no such thing as instant karma!

@LR : Yeah.. sigh again... but it would be wonderful if we did know about it :).. but then thats a separate discussion altogether :)
